You may conclude from my it's-not-you-it's-me email posted below that one of my low-paying freelance projects turned into such a nightmare that I had to walk away from it.
It's also worth mentioning that the freelance project I got writing travel brochures was going well enough — until the woman who assigned me the work left the company. Now who knows if there'll be any more projects in the pipeline for me.
The farmers market communications director job I applied for went to someone else. The silver lining there was that I got a personalized rejection email. I'm not being flip about that, because given that there were over 400 applicants for the job, it's nice that someone took the time to send me anything at all.
There was a farmers market last weekend, but Pete said he didn't need my help because he didn't think many people would come. He just sent me an email saying the same thing about the market this weekend.
Any of this would suck just a little less if I still had a job at the census, but I don't. When I met with my supervisor yesterday to ask what my next assignment was, he said there was no next assignment. The work is done. There may be some loose ends to tie up and a few hours of work may come of that. But the paychecks I was counting on for the next month or so? Yeah, not so much.
Granted, I'm not any more unemployed than I was before. But it's getting old.
